How do I trade a DVD?

Putting a DVD up for trade is simple. In the "My DVDs" section, click the "trade" tab by the DVD you want to trade. Decide whether you want to trade for another DVD or a cash value (excluding postage) and enter the details. If you want a specific DVD, DVDLender will target owners of that DVD with your trade. Your trade will also be put up on the trades board and if anyone is interested, DVDLender will send you an e-mail with their offer and e-mail address. It is then up to you to make the deal with the other trader direct.

Can I trade with people outside my gang?

Yes. The trading feature is designed to enable you to trade with any other registered user. DVDLender categorizes trades by the Country of origin and does not recommend trading with someone from another Country. If you do export or import a DVD, it is up to you to know the applicable laws and duties / taxes that may become payable.

I use my work e-mail address for lending within my gang. Can I use a different e-mail address for the trading feature?

Yes. You can specify a different e-mail address for trading. DVDLender recommends you use a web-based e-mail address when dealing with people you do not know.

What happens next?

Once you have struck a deal, we recommend that you agree on a postage method. DVDLender recommends using a service that requires a signature from the recipient and gives compensation for lost or damaged deliveries. If you are selling a DVD we recommend that you agree that the DVD will be despatched once the agreed money clears in your bank account. Always take care when giving your address out to someone you do not know. Then just post the DVD and wait for yours to arrive. You can then remove the DVD from your collection and the trades list with the "remove trade" tab in "My DVDs".

What happens if a trader fails to deliver a DVD as agreed or send the money?

DVDLender has no current reports of bad trades. The contract made is between buyer and seller and DVDLender has no part in the contract. If you do have a problem with a bad trader, please e-mail details of the situation to customerservices@dvdlender.com and upon verification, they will be removed from the registered user list.
